This original watercolor painting brings together a vivid kingfisher with branches of ripe lemons and lush foliage. Rich blues, turquoise greens, warm yellows and touches of orange create a lively yet balanced botanical composition, with unexpected shifts in colour adding depth and character to the leaves.
The painting was inspired by two of my travels: the kingfishers we encountered in Tanzania and the lemon trees that surrounded us in Sicily. I was particularly drawn to the way the warm orange tones of the bird could be echoed in the lemons, connecting two separate memories through colour.
Painted entirely by hand in watercolor, the work combines delicate botanical details with expressive colour and subtle variations in the washes. The result is a one-of-a-kind original with a bright, natural presence that can bring both colour and a sense of the outdoors into a room.
It works beautifully as a focal point on its own, particularly in interiors with natural materials, muted surroundings or botanical elements.

Inspired by a summer evening in Sicily, this original watercolor painting brings together two memories from the island: a Sardinian warbler and an unripe pomegranate.
We heard the bird’s beautiful song every day outside our apartment. Its soft grey plumage, red eye and lively presence made it feel like a small companion throughout the trip. Since my work is usually rooted in botanical subjects, I wanted to place the bird among something that also belonged to my experience of Sicily.
On our final evening, we walked through the warm sunset toward our favourite restaurant. Along the way, we passed a garden where pomegranates were growing among dense green leaves. To me, the fruit felt both unfamiliar and distinctly Mediterranean, and it became the natural companion to the bird.
Together, they form a quiet portrait of Sicily as I remember it — birdsong outside an open window, lush gardens, warm evening light and the feeling of discovering something new.
The painting has a gentle, detailed character and is well suited for interiors inspired by nature, travel and botanical forms. It can become a distinctive addition to a gallery wall or a quiet focal point on its own.

Inspired by a hibiscus growing in the garden below our apartment in Sicily, this original watercolor painting captures one of the quiet details that made the island feel so memorable.
The large, pale yellow flower stood out against the fresh green leaves, with a warm coral-red centre that seemed to glow in the Sicilian light, and reminds me of the beautiful Sicilian sunsets.
The artwork has a gentle, luminous character and is well suited for interiors inspired by nature, gardens and warm Mediterranean tones. It can bring softness to a gallery wall or become a calm focal point on its own.
